Appeals Process for MAT Score Cancellations
Harcourt Assessment, Inc. does not permit appeals in cases where scores are cancelled because of group or individual irregularities in testing, but only in cases of questionable item responses, unusual answer patterns, and questionable score gain.
Candidates who had their MAT scores cancelled because of questionable item responses, unusual answer patterns, and questionable score gain are advised to contact Harcourt Assessment, Inc. through PSE Customer Relations to discuss his or her options. This must be done within 60 days of taking the test.
The candidate may be permitted to submit an explanation for the test scores. This explanation must be submitted no more than 30 days from the date this option was offered by Harcourt Assessment, Inc. Should the candidate wish to appeal the cancellation of his or her scores, supporting documentation must be submitted by email or fax within 30 days from the date this option was offered.
Appeals and supporting documentation will be reviewed within 30 days of receipt by Harcourt Assessment, Inc. The candidate will be notified when a decision is made. If the candidate's appeal is successful, Harcourt Assessment, Inc. will release the results of the cancelled scores. If the candidate's appeal is unsuccessful, the candidate will be notified that the scores will not be released. Other options may be available to the candidate, and if so, these will be explained by Harcourt Assessment, Inc.
If the candidate fails to meet the deadline set by Harcourt Assessment, Inc. the scores will stand.
